Pasadena City College

Pasadena City College (PCC) is a junior college situated in Pasadena, California. 

Pasadena City College was established in 1924 as Pasadena Junior College. From 1928 to 1953, it worked as a four-year junior school, joining the most recent two years of secondary school with the initial two years of school. 


In 1954, Pasadena Junior College converged with another junior school, John Muir College, to end up Pasadena City College. In 1966, voters endorsed the formation of the Pasadena Area Junior College District. The name was in this way changed to the Pasadena Area Community College District.[citation needed] Pasadena City College is certify by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, an institutional authorizing body perceived by the Commission on Recognition of Postsecondary Accreditation and the U.S. Bureau of Education. 
The Shatford Library is an immediate descendent of the first Pasadena High School library that initially involved the grounds. The $16.5-million Shatford Library opened in 1994, and holds 133,024 volumes in the general book accumulation, more than 300 periodical memberships (in addition to more than two thousand titles in electronic databases) 7,338 sound tapes, 1,019 soft cover books, 661 CDs and programming, 404 volumes in the Special Services gathering, and 1,186 videocassettes. Walter T. Shatford II, is the lawyer for whom the library was named in acknowledgment of his four many years of administration on the school's board and his gifts. He was additionally dynamic in the Civil Rights Movement. 

Pasadena City College Clocktower 

In 2003, voters affirmed a bond measure for about $150 million that enhanced grounds offices. A critical part of these assets were reserved for the development of another building to house the school's specialty and music offices. The Alumni Commons, the Aquatic Center, the Boone Sculpture Garden, and the Galloway Plaza have all supplanted what were once grounds parking garages. Another fourth floor stopping structure (Lot 5) and another transport stopping range were finished in 2005.
